Utah Hemophilia Foundation Academic Scholarships
The UHF is pleased to offer a limited number of academic scholarships to members of Utah’s bleeding disorders community, including those who have a diagnosed bleeding disorder, are a carrier, and/or a parent of a child with a bleeding disorder. Scholarships range from $500 to $1,500 and are intended for post-high school education.
Preference will be given to applicants most directly affected by a bleeding disorder, those involved with UHF activities, those without other scholarships or financial assistance, and those who live in Utah. The application MUST be filled out by the person who will use the scholarship monies. Any part of an application or essay written by a third party will not be considered.
Applicants will be required to submit two letters of references. These letters should be written by two people who know you well, but are not relatives. Please consider professional references including teachers, employers, volunteer coordinators, or others who can adequately relate your specific strengths and qualities. Reference letters written on letterhead are preferred. However, if letters ARE NOT written on formal letterhead, please have the writer include their address and phone number. All reference letters must have a signature. Please note, we must receive these letters by the deadline or your application may not be given full consideration.
UHF staff members and Board members are ineligible to write letters of recommendation for this scholarship.
Scholarships are intended for post-high school education and training. Therefore, only those who are already enrolled or are planning to enroll in a college, university, trade school, or technical program may apply.
Scholarships will be paid upon proof of school enrollment.
Applications will be available in Spring 2025.
The Utah Hemophilia Foundation is pleased to announce a $1,500 scholarship for two members of the bleeding disorders community. Though not a requirement to apply, preference will be given to a personally affected individual and to those applicants pursuing education in the mental health and/or addiction fields.
Hayden was a beloved member of the Utah bleeding disorders family. His infectious smile and loud laughter brightened many UHF events for many years. It’s highly possible that Hayden’s favorite place on earth was Camp Wapiti. Hayden’s life was cut far too short as the result of an accidental drug overdose in 2015, when Hayden was 21 years old. Hayden was a true connector of people. Through this scholarship, Hayden’s family wishes for you to connect with your dreams, and to keep the connections of the UHF strong.
Applicants must be:
A Utah Resident.
Seeking an undergraduate or graduate degree.
Enrolled in a college, university, or trade school.
Able to verify their connection to the bleeding disorder as an affected individual, sibling, parent or caregiver, or carrier.
Please submit the following with your completed scholarship application:
Two letters of recommendation from people who know you well but are not related to you. (Please note, letters from UHF staff or Board members are not eligible).
Your most recent academic transcript from the last school you attended.
Those who have applied for a UHF scholarship may, also, apply for this scholarship. Applications submitted without both letters of recommendation and an academic transcript WILL NOT be considered. Applications open spring of 2025.
*Letters of recommendation and transcripts may be sent to:
